Spring Cleaning Checklist

With the weather finally starting to heat up, there is no better time give your home a little spring clean in time for summer. Regardless of whether you are planning to sell or not, we’ve compiled a handy spring cleaning checklist so nothing gets missed, allowing you to sit back and enjoy your uncluttered and dust free home for Christmas.

  1. Dust the ceiling corners, ceiling fans and the tops of any tall furniture. Whilst it may not be something you see every day, the dust can build up so quickly and it’s much easier to clean when it hasn’t been left to accumulate for too long.
  2. Spot clean or dry clean any bedding, linen, cushions or pillows. We’ve been snuggled up in them for the cooler months, so now it’s time to give them a new lease on life.
  3. Let there be light! Open up the windows and blinds and let the sunshine and fresh air in. Make any room look brighter with clean blinds and lighter curtains.
  4. Rearrange your drawers! This includes the cutlery drawer and ‘that’ one drawer everyone has which stuff just gets thrown into. Time to sort them out!
  5. Throw away any old beauty or bathroom products; these too have an expiry date.
  6. Whilst you’re in the bathroom, look at your grout. When was the last time this had some love and got a good clean? Clean the mirror while you’re in there too.
  7. Rearrange your wardrobe! Time to put away those bulky winter clothes (vacuum sealed bags are excellent for minimising space) and bring out the spring clothes. Why not donate any clothes you don’t wear to charity…be honest here, if you haven’t worn it in the last year and can’t see yourself wearing it in the future, maybe someone else could be getting more use out of it than you.
  8. Get your carpets cleaned. Even if you vacuum regularly, carpets should still be deep-cleaned at least once a year to avoid any dirt or dust building up.
  9. Clean out the vent in your clothes dryer. If you’ve had your clothes dryer working over time during the winter months, it’s time to clean out the vent and make sure it’s safe.
  10. Don’t forget about the outside of your house. High pressure clean your driveway, clean your gutters and tidy up your garden. Be proud of your home; curb appeal matters!
  11. Gutters! This one is important so we’ll mention it twice. Clean gutters are especially important coming into the hot summer months.

If this is all sounding a bit overwhelming, you’re more than welcome to give us a call and we can recommend any of our trusted contractors to help you with your spring cleaning.
